  2. Heart Health: Dark chocolate promotes heart health when consumed regularly.
  3. Enhanced Mood and Brain Function: Chocolate contains several compounds that can positively impact brain function and mood and boost cognitive function and provide a mild energy lift.
  4. Improved Blood Flow: Flavanols in chocolate increase blood flow by relaxing and widening blood vessels by producing nitric oxide.
  5. Reduced Stress and Anxiety: Indulging in a small piece of chocolate can be a comforting and stress-relieving experience for many. Studies have suggested that a small piece of chocolate might help reduce stress hormones in the body, providing a soothing effect during challenging times.
  6. Skin Health: Consuming dark chocolate and a healthy diet may contribute to a radiant complexion and reduced signs of aging.

The recipe includes chocolate sponge cake or heavy chocolate sponge cake, or you can use the recipe of chocolate fudge cake for the sponge by eliminating its frosting recipe.

Step 2:

On a baking tray, place the cake over the wire rack. Pour the ganache gently over the cake once it has cooled, and the ganache has hardened.

Step 3:

After the glaze sets, move the cake to a platter.

Whipped cream is optional if you wish to serve the cake plain.

As the Cake Bakes, Prepare the Chocolate Mirror Glaze Recipe for Cake

  1. If you are using chocolate bars or chocolate chips, place them in a medium size bowl. Make small pieces of butter and set them aside as well.
  2. Combine the salt and heavy cream in a small saucepan. Heat over medium-high heat and stir to dissolve the salt. Remove the cream from the heat when it has simmered for a few minutes.
  3. Pour the heavy cream over the chocolate and butter pieces placed aside. Before whisking the mixture, let it sit for 30 seconds. After that, whisk thoroughly.
  4. Whisk the butter into the warm ganache until it is melted and well incorporated.
  5. Using a stick blender, blend the ganache until it’s smooth and shiny again if it looks curdled or split.
  6. Once cooled to room temperature (72 – 76°F), the ganache can be stored in an airtight container. To ensure the ganache does not become lumpy as it cools, whisk it periodically.
  7. A warmer ganache will result in a thinner glaze (and a cooler ganache will result in a thicker glaze). Depending on how thick or thin you want it to be, you may have some leftover glaze.
  8. It is possible to store leftover ganache to make hot chocolate or chocolate milkshakes at a later stage!

Pro Baking Tips for Baking a Perfect Chocolate Glazed Cake

Baking a luscious chocolate glazed cake that leaves everyone craving more requires a few pro tips to ensure success. Here are some expert baking tips to help you achieve a moist, flavorful, and perfectly mirror glazed chocolate cake:

1) Use High-Quality Ingredients:

For the best results, always use high-quality ingredients, especially when it comes to cocoa powder and chocolate chips. Opt for unsweetened cocoa powder and good-quality semi-sweet chocolate chips or bars. High-quality ingredients will elevate the flavor and texture of your cake.

2) Measure Accurately:

The science of baking requires precise measurements. Use dry measuring cups for flour, cocoa powder, and sugar, and ensure you level off the ingredients for accuracy. Use liquid measuring cups for milk and oil, and remember to level those as well.

3) Room Temperature Ingredients:

To achieve a smooth and evenly mixed batter, ensure all the wet ingredients, such as eggs and milk, are at room temperature. Cold ingredients can lead to a lumpy batter, affecting the overall texture of the cake.

4) Mix Dry Ingredients First:

Before adding the wet ingredients, mix all the dry ingredients (flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt) in a bowl and whisk them together. The leavening agents will be evenly distributed, and lumps will not form.

5) Don’t Overmix the Batter:

Gently mix the batter once you add the wet ingredients to the dry ones. Overmixing can lead your cake to become dense and tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.

6) The Boiling Water Technique:

Adding boiling water to the cake batter may seem unusual, but it’s essential for a moist and tender crumb. The hot water helps “bloom” the cocoa, intensifying its flavor while keeping the cake moist.

7) Preheat the Oven Correctly:

Preheating the oven to the right temperature is crucial. An oven thermometer can help you verify that the temperature matches the setting on your oven. Avoid opening the oven door frequently during baking, as it can cause fluctuations in temperature and affect the cake’s rise.

8) Use the Right Cake Pan:

Choose the right cake pan size and material for even baking. A standard 9-inch round cake pan is ideal for most recipes. Non-stick pans or well-greased and floured pans help prevent the cake from sticking.

9) Cooling and Glazing:

Place the cake on a wire rack after it has cooled in the pan for about 10 minutes. Cakes will be less likely to stick to the pan and break apart if coated in this way. You can add the chocolate glaze after the cake has cooled completely to prevent the chocolate from melting.

10) Perfecting the Chocolate Glaze:

When preparing the chocolate glaze, use real chocolate instead of a chocolate-flavored coating. Heat the cream and butter to a simmer to create a smooth, glossy glaze, then pour them over the chocolate. Allow the glaze to cool slightly before pouring it over the cake.

Bonus Tip: Garnish Creatively:

To elevate the presentation, consider garnishing your chocolate glazed cake with fresh berries, chocolate curls, or a dusting of cocoa powder. These simple touches add visual appeal and make the cake even more enticing.
